Untitled:
Erasure and Resilience in Saratoga Springs

Part of the Corners and Stones exihbit at Case Gallery. It was a multimedia installation using projections, textiles, and altered materials to expose the erasure of migrant workers in Saratoga’s image. Photographs by these workers amplified their resilience, urging viewers to confront the labor shaping the city’s identity.

Hettie Anderson
&
Spirit of Life

A site-specific video installation at the Spirit of Life statue in Congress Park in Saratoga Springs. The goal was to investigate history and the role of monuments in culture. Specifically, we sought to shed light on the life of Hettie Anderson, a black woman who has been erased from history. The "Spirit of Life" monument has been misattributed to white model Audrey Munson when it is actually a depiction of black model Hettie Anderson. Through our use of video projection on the monument, we intended to make an impactful artistic intervention that could help educate the Saratoga Springs community about this historical inaccuracy. Collaboration with Skidmore’s Assistant Professor in Art and Film Maura Jasper, and local Saratoga artist Daesha Devón Harris.

ROLE: Production team (mapping, testing and setting up the projections), budgeting and purchasing the materials needed for the project.
